For salon owners
Salon DM automation: Your chair is booked. The inbox should not become a second chair.
Salon DMs are rarely just ‘how much?’. A customer may ask about a service, a stylist, a patch test and the next slot in one note. The safe reply is the one that shares published facts and never manufactures a consultation, health recommendation or booking confirmation.
Facts a salon can safely keep ready
Build the fact sheet around the details clients reasonably expect: service menu, duration ranges, starting prices, location, booking link, deposit policy and how to request a preferred stylist. Write variable services as ‘from’ prices and state what makes the final quote vary.
- Cut and colour service names with duration ranges
- Starting prices and consultation boundaries
- Booking link and late-arrival policy
- Deposit and cancellation policy exactly as written
- Which services require a patch test or consultation
Messages that should pause
A salon should hand off a request to alter or cancel an appointment, an unhappy-client message, a colour correction, a medical or allergy question, or a request that has no clear price. A DM assistant can acknowledge the message and let the customer know the owner will confirm — it should not decide for them.
Patch-test language deserves special care. State your published requirement and route personal suitability questions to the salon’s chosen professional process.
Useful salon reply examples
Price: ‘A full balayage starts at [price]. The final quote depends on hair length and the service plan; booking a consultation is the best next step: [link].’ Booking: ‘You can request a [service] appointment here: [link]. Please choose [stylist] if you have a preference.’
Cancellation: ‘Thanks for letting us know. Please send your booking name and appointment time; the team will confirm the change with you.’ Complaint: ‘I’m sorry you’ve had that experience. A team member is taking over this conversation now.’
Keep the handoff visible
The aim is not to hide the salon behind a bot. It is to make the routine part quick, so a stylist or owner can step into the conversation with the details already gathered. RelayU can answer from facts you approved and pause on the exceptions.
Where all of it starts
Everything above starts with the same list.
Hours, prices, booking, the policies you repeat weekly. Write them once in the free builder and you have the answers for saved replies, your Instagram FAQs, and anything you automate later.

A few careful answers.
Can a salon automate booking DMs?+
A salon can share its booking link and published booking guidance. Booking changes or confirmations should follow the salon’s actual booking process and be handed to a person when needed.
Should a salon auto-answer colour questions?+
It can share a published service description or starting price, but consultation, suitability and bespoke recommendations should be handled by the salon.
How should a salon phrase variable pricing?+
Use a clear starting price and explain the fact that changes the quote, then offer a consultation or owner handoff.
