Describe your shop in one line and get all eight messages Instagram asks you to pre-write, each labelled with the settings screen it belongs in — then ask the assistant something they don't cover and watch where it stops.

  • Eight messages across Instagram's four separate reply settings, free and unlimited.
  • Ten live replies a day from the real assistant — no account, no card.
  • A setup kit you can download and keep: the messages, the settings paths, and the awkward questions worth testing.

Or start from a trade

Waiting on your details

One line above, or a trade chip, and the eight messages Instagram asks you to pre-write appear here — each one labelled with the settings screen it belongs in.

Or scroll down: a full worked example for a lash studio is printed further down this page, no typing at all.

The part saved replies can't do

Now the question you didn't plan for.

Those eight cover what you saw coming. Instagram's own tools stop exactly there — someone who phrases it differently, asks two things at once, or turns up annoyed gets nothing back.

This is the real assistant, reading your facts and answering anyway. Ask it something awkward: a date you can't promise, a complaint, a discount. The useful thing to watch is where it stops.

A complete worked example

The eight messages, written for a lash and nail tech.

This is exactly what the tool above produces — printed here in full so you can read it without typing anything. Lumen Lash Studio is an example business; the tool writes the same eight from your own details.

Instant Reply

sends by itself

Settings › Business tools › Saved replies & FAQs › Instant reply

Sends automatically the first time someone messages you. It fires once per person, so treat it as a greeting — not a place to answer a question they haven't asked yet.

Greeting
Thanks for messaging Lumen Lash Studio! We've got your message and will reply as soon as we can. We're usually quickest during Tuesday–Saturday, 9am–6pm.

Away Message

sends by itself

Settings › Business tools › Away message

Only sends outside the hours you set in Instagram. Set those hours to match the ones you entered above, or this never fires when you expect it to.

Outside hours
Thanks for your message — we're closed right now. We're open Tuesday–Saturday, 9am–6pm and will get back to you then.

FAQ · 4 of 4

you send it

Settings › Business tools › Saved replies & FAQs › Frequently asked questions

Instagram allows four, and they only appear before a customer sends their first message — once the chat starts the menu disappears for good. So these four should be the questions that stop someone messaging at all.

Saved Reply

you send it

Settings › Business tools › Saved replies

Never sends on its own. You insert it by typing its shortcut while replying, so these are for the messages you send by hand over and over.

Don't know yet · type /checking
I don't want to guess on that one — let me check and come straight back to you.
Handing to a person · type /human
Sorry about that. I'm passing this to someone at Lumen Lash Studio now — they'll pick it up from here.

What none of this should answer

The three a lash and nail tech gets every week.

  • A set that came off early — that's a fix, an apology and possibly a free infill, none of which should be automated.
  • Someone asking to be squeezed in today, when only you know what's really in the diary.
  • A reaction or irritation after a set. This is a health question and it goes to you, immediately.

Saved messages can't tell these apart from a price question — they match text, not meaning, so they either answer badly or say nothing. Knowing which messages to stay out of is the whole job RelayU does that Instagram's own tools can't.

How to use it

Useful drafts are specific drafts.

Start with the facts you'd be comfortable saying to every customer: real hours, published prices, an actual booking link, and policies in plain language. Leave out anything that changes week to week — a saved message doesn't know it has gone stale.

Then try the awkward questions rather than the easy ones. Ask about a date you can't promise, or send what a frustrated customer would write. The useful thing to watch is where the assistant stops and hands the conversation back to you, because that boundary is what makes the rest safe to leave running.

Before you paste anything

Questions about the eight.

What do I actually do with the eight messages?+

You paste them into Instagram. Instagram keeps pre-written replies in four separate places — Instant Reply, Away Message, FAQs and Saved Replies — and each message here is labelled with the settings screen it belongs in. Only the first two send by themselves; FAQs are tappable prompts and saved replies are inserted by typing a shortcut.

Do I have to fill in a form?+

No. One sentence about your business is enough — something like 'I do lash extensions in Leeds, £45 full set, book by DM'. That gets expanded into a full fact sheet you can correct, and anything filled in by inference rather than by you is marked so you know what to check. If you'd rather not type at all, tap a trade and edit the example.

Why only four FAQs?+

That's Instagram's limit. You get four, and they only appear before a customer sends their first message — once the chat starts the menu disappears and they can't bring it back. So the four here are the ones most likely to stop someone needing to message at all.

Is this AI, or templates?+

Both, and you choose. The eight messages are built in your browser instantly, free and unlimited, with no AI involved and no network call. 'Write these in my voice' rewrites them with the same model that powers RelayU, and the live demo below is the real assistant — free for ten replies a day, no account.

Where does my business information go?+

The details you type stay in your browser between visits. If you use an AI action they're sent to our server for that one request, used to write the text, and not stored against you.

Can this switch on Instagram replies for me?+

No. Nothing here touches your Instagram account — you copy the text and paste it in yourself. Connecting an account is a separate thing you'd do inside RelayU, after you've decided it's worth it.

When a draft has to become a dependable reply

A draft is a start. An inbox that answers is the job.

RelayU answers your DMs from the facts you just wrote, all day, and hands you the phone the moment a chat needs a human.
